ick dans amsterdam

Philosophers are like musicians: they don’t dance. Except for Friedrich Nietzsche, the dancing philosopher. Although he was reportedly caught only once by his landlady dancing ecstatically in his room, Nietzsche frequently used dance as a metaphor for embracing life in all its richness. Amor fati — love of fate! To not just talk about dance but also embrace fate themselves, the dancers of ICK Dans present three short choreographies inspired by Nietzsche’s philosophy.

ICK Dans is internationally renowned for its innovative approach to dance, in which the body is viewed as a vessel for stories, meanings, and physical intelligence. The company constantly seeks new forms of physical presence, audience engagement, and the integration of technology into choreography.
