We talk a lot about integration, but rarely about coming home. Whether you carry a migration history with you or feel uprooted in a globalized society, everyone is searching for identity and a place in the world. Yet, inclusion and integration are more often about who you ought to become, than who you actually are. Noor Cornelissen gives new language to the experience of truly feeling at home – a task for us all that cannot be ignored. For without roots, we cannot grow.

Noor Cornelissen is the founder and director of the Rooted Foundation and a strategic policy advisor for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Over the past 15 years, she has focused on themes such as migration, identity, and belonging – working for organizations like Doctors Without Borders – and has operated along migration routes in Palestine, Congo, Chad, Libya, Uganda, and Kenya, as well as on a rescue ship in the Mediterranean. At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Noor is committed to fostering equitable diplomatic relations with African partner countries.
