milio van de kamp
Does our political future lie in the collective, or must a new narrative be sought elsewhere? Sociologist Milio van de Kamp guides us through the political divides and social contradictions of Europe. At Brainwash Festival, he discusses the impact of wealth inequality on our society and engages in conversation with the prominent French sociologist Didier Eribon. Together, they explore the gap between the welfare state and the working class, addressing the central question of Milio’s new book: Voor wie is de politiek? (Who Is Politics For?).
Milio van de Kamp is a writer and sociologist at the University of Amsterdam. Having grown up in poverty himself, he now connects his personal story to societal inequality in the Netherlands. He is the author of Misschien moet je iets lager mikken (2023), and his articles on inequality of opportunity and poverty have appeared in publications such as de Volkskrant, Het Parool, and NRC. His new book, Voor wie is de politiek?, will be published on October 27, 2026.
