What is justice? This is a question that has exercised philosophers for hundreds of years. However, humanity has always been at the centre of our thinking about this justice. According to world-famous philosopher Martha Nussbaum, it’s high time we shifted our gaze and thought about justice for animals. Because, according to Nussbaum, how we live with them now is absolutely unacceptable. What actions can we take, in our personal lives, but above all also in terms of legislation and policy to better embed the justice we strive for?
Martha Nussbaum is a professor of Law and Ethics at the University of Chicago. Nussbaum has won countless awards and holds 56 honorary doctorates from universities all over the world. Her latest book Justice for Animals was published this year.
