“The fixation with your identity limits your identity” according to fashion stylist and author Ayishat Akanbi. Ayishat believes we are too fixated, in a world that is getting more complex all the time, on a clearly demarcated experience of our identity. We try to fit in with a group, live in echo chambers and allow our lives to be dictated by particular ideologies. The result: polarisation and extremism. Which is why Ayishat believes it is time for radical autonomy and empathy. Ayishat has previously addressed audiences at Google, The Sydney Opera House, Radley College, and The V&A.
