Breaking Black Stereotypes

The prevailing clichés about people of colour and the continent of Africa are rapidly changing under pressure from viewers and makers. Nevertheless, some stereotypes are persistent. During Tropenmuseum x Brainwash Festival: Breaking Black Stereotypes we will investigate these clichés and alternatives to them, together with our principal guest, British author and Vice journalist Dipo Faloyin, who in his book Africa Is Not A Country puts paid to this one-dimensional representation.

We take a deep dive into history with world-famous economist Oded Galor. We will pick apart the origins of inequality and how this still defines our lives today.
